Stephen and Jo Planet Earth...
We met Thien by the lake in Dalat, he is one of 70 "Easyriders", motorcycle guides who take you almost anywhere in Vietnam, showing you interesting sights on the way. We both think that the 4 days we spent with these 2 guys was the highlight of our trip so far, we saw so many things (see the pictures) and it really opened my eyes to the real Vietnam. Both Thien and Nam fought in the War, and they had many interesting stories to tell and knew so much about the history, agriculture and minority people of Vietnam.
It is very easy to become suspicious when you are travelling, but throughout our time in this country, we have been shown nothing but generosity, kindness and hospitality. We are really sad to be leaving Vietnam on 29th, I feel like I have just "clicked" with it!!
In Saigon we have seen the War Remnants Museum (very moving, some emotive photography) and Reunification Palace (not a patch on Buckingham). We have stocked up on toiletries ready for our boat trip across the border to Cambodia, on the way we are seeing some of the Mekong Delta. The time is flying by!! (my legs are still white and we haven't lost a pound between us).
