We arrived here last night after the JOURNEY FROM HELL. a five hour bus ride on a clapped out old banger that broke down after 2 hours in the middle of nowhere (I mean it we were lucky to be on tarmac) . The driver disappeared for 4 hours, we had no idea where, and returned to fix the bus which took another 3 hours. Lucky for us, we were on the bus with the irrepressable Vietnamese family who fed us by the roadside with noodles and tea. We then had an impromptu lesson in the language, they were having a great laugh at our attempts at the accent!! We are high up in the mountains, it is cooler (thank god the deoderant is running out) and we have seen some fab scenery and been on a cablecar across a valley, we could be in the Austrian Alps! We are going on the road for a few days on a tour to Saigon with Vietnamese tour guides Thien and Phuc (yes thats right say what you see). Next update will probably be from Saigon as we are a little more off the beaten track! Hopefully some more photos too.
