The bus ride (again I'm adding a transportation blog) to Lima was O-R-G-A-S-M-I-C. We were on a 'first class' bus which apparently only plies this northern route. As we boarded at a typically dingy Peruvian private bus station, we stepped through the door and were ushered up to the top floor by little Peruvian bus-hosties, I think just about every one of us gasped when we looked at the spacious seats (like airline business class) that were spread out three across in the spacious top deck. The seats even had a foot rest like a laz-y-boy chair that extended as you reclined. With a video that you could hear, thanks to the head phones, pillows and a meal service this 8-hour journey made up for the last 3-months of variable bus quality. It was like flying business class but better as if you got board you could look out the window at the scenery! And the cost for the journey.....slightly under $30 USD, scary when you compare this to the quality and the cost of 'first world' Greyhound buses.
