Managed to make it to Arequipa keeping it all together. The bus had a toilet so I did feel I always had a plan B, it was a good thing that I didn't hear our guide, Chilly-Windy, tell everyone that it was only for 'number ones' when I boarded. Felt a lot worse upon arrival to Arequipa so made a plan to see a doctor. The doctor took one look at me and performed some tests which later showed that I had a pretty bad bacterial infection of the digestive tract. Lots of antibiotics, lots of electrolyte solution, lots of trips to the toilet later and three days in bed I started to feel better. The only real bummer was that everyone else when off for a overnight hike to Cocola Canyon which was a bit disappointing for me but I just grit my teeth and though about Machu Picchu coming up in a few days.
For the record Arequipa would have to be the prettiest colonial city I've yet seen in central or south America. The town square is amazing, surrounded by cloistered building with the cathedral in at one end and denuded mountains in the distance completing the fairytale picture. It was just a shame I spent most of the time here in bed.
