Yesterday we arrived in Playa Del Carmen, it was a relief to see the sea after a month spent predominately in the clouded Mexican highlands was a relief. First impressions of the town is that its very set up for the American tourist, however it is presently the low season for which I am eternally grateful. Looking at the white sandy beaches and the clear turquoise water I can safely say that I've finally found some beaches in the world that rival those at home for beauty. If the rest of the Caribbean is like this I might have to move here!
Last night was the farewell evening for the group I'd been traveling with through Mexico for the past 15 days. Lets just say it was a night packed full of merry making ending up (at 4:30am) on a sand covered dance floor at an outdoor nightclub situated on the beach at Playa Del Carmen. I'm sure photos of the night with me tagged will soon surface on Facebook - watch also for the 'Spice Girl's video whch no doubt will turn up, fortunately I only have a cameo appearance in this one. It was a good group with a cool leader and I'll miss them all as I journey onward.
Tonight I meet my new group for the next two weeks who will head with me south through Belize and Guatemala before regrouping again and heading further south to Honduras, Nicaragua winding up central America in Costa Rica.
