Day 20: Statue of Liberty
Today I took a 3 hr cruise of Manhattan that included The Statue of Liberty as well as Ellis Island.
It was a relaxing way to finish off my time in New York with blue skies ahead and a nice warm 26 degrees.
At 3pm I boarded the Amtrak train heading toward Miami. I have a long journey ahead of me and I am looking forward to resting my poor feet after the pounding they've copped over the last few days.
My thoughts on New York:
Great city, full of life and lots of great nooks and streets to discover.
My favourite part was my day spent on the Greenwich Village walking tour and the East Village Rock tour I did.
It was in these locations that I feel I saw the real New York with the appartment stoops as you see them in the movies, the great parks where everyone congregates all the time and the leafy green neighbourhoods full of character from both yesterday and today.
I will not, in any way however miss the rude and obnoxious New Yorkers (especially sales people) whom I found left me frustrated and flabbergasted at the same time. After dealing with the dickhead at the Amtrak window, I was more than happy to say goodbye and thank f***, I'm outta here!

Brad Lessware Ha ha! Wait until you get to Miami where they all speak spanish! See if you get the time to do the Bahama's cruise. It's a full day but an awesome trip. Well worth it just to say you've been there!
