Well from Franz Joseph we drove 7 hours to Nelson, which is at the top of the South Island. Throughout the whole of the journey it poured with rain and this continued for the next 12 hours, it felt like we were back in England!
In Nelson we went wine tasting, which was good fun and also had a look around the town. We ended our time here with a round of crazy golf and me being very competitive was determined to win and thankfully i did! :)
We then drove to Picton to catch the ferry back to the North Island and then stopped at Wanganui for the night. Not much there so the next day we left early and drove to Waitamo. Here we did a half day of abseiling, rock climbing, tubing and caving and saw the gloworms, which were very impressive. We all loved this trip although i would have to say the tubing wasnt nearly as fun as it was in Belize.
From Waitomo we then headed to the Bay of Islands, which is our last stop before handing back the campervan in Auckland. Once again it poured with rain for the whole journey, we cant wait to get to Fiji for some sunshine! We arrived in Kerikeri on Valentines Day and we decided we needed a nice romantic night together and went to a local curry house for a yummy meal. As this place wasnt the most happening of places the next day we decided to go to Paihia and stay there for the next 2 nights. This was a lovely place with amazing scenery but unfortunately the weather didnt pick up so we had to pass the time shopping, oh what a great shame that was!
The next day we got the ferry over to Russell which is a nice historic place and was where NZ first started. Once again lovely views over the Bay of Islands and was a nice chilled out place.
We then left here and drove back to Auckland to give back the wonderful campervan, what an experience it has been. As i had already been camping lots with my fmaily in the past this was something that wasnt new to me but for the rest of the girls i think it was a bit of an eye opener and i dont expect any of them to be going anywhere near a campsite in the near future. But we can safely say we have some very funny memories of our time in the campervan that we will def never forgot.
We are now back in Auckland at the BASE hostel, where Pete, mine and Erin's old housemate from uni works.
Amy and Frances- would love to see your faces when you read the last sentence!! You will be pleased to know we have all now rekindled our love! lol
The first night we arrived it was free beer and alcopops in the bar, yes we took full advantage of this and had a great night. Although strangely last night seemed to be more messy, (all drinks were 2 pounds)
Tonight they are offering free pizza in the hostel, what a great way to cure a hangover. Nath i told you to come here, you would love it, free drink, free food and lots of attractive women are staying here, shame i couldnt say the same about the calibre of men!
Anyhow i will stop rabbling on now. Overall we have had a fantastic time in NZ and i would definately say this is the best country i have ever been to and would recommend all of you to come here one day.
Off to Fiji in the morning, cant wait to relax on the beach and get a nice tan. Im really not liking the fact that my brother is more tanned than me and i started travelling one month before him, god damn this crap NZ weather!!!
Take care allxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
