Day Fifty Nine - September 3rd, 2013
Darwin
We were up and into Darwin in the nice air conditioned Toyota Mum and Angus have for their trip, and were given a state of the art guide around the city by Duncan, who imparted all of his local knowledge. It was so nice to discover and explore this frontier town with someone who knows all the small details. We went to see the Aboriginal artwork we put aside, and settled on the colourful piece. Hopefully it will always be a reminder of our wonderful Aussie adventure, even if we don't yet have a wall to hang it on!
After a good walk around the city and wharf, we met Stef for lunch at a lovely harbour side restaurant, and had a lazy afternoon meandering around by the water. I think we might have to spend the day at the wave pool tomorrow! If only we could go in the ocean, the water is so crystal clear and blue, it is just begging us to jump in! However, with the crocs and jellies, that might not be such a good idea...
Duncan directed us around in the car and we saw more of the coast and the little beach where he and Stef were married. Such a wonderful setting!
We headed back to the campsite and Elly went with Chris to the supermarket to buy supplies for a stir fry. We had an evening with him and Elaine hearing all their amazing travel stories from the last six and a half years. I can't wait to buy his book once he's written it!
The fan is on and we are comfortable tonight! Thank you Mum for our best present!
