Day Fifty Eight - September 2nd, 2013
Darwin
We decided it was time to venture a little further afield, and headed into Darwin. I had sought out a second hand book exchange, and we found it easily. The shop turned out to be an extraordinary treasure trove of Aboriginal, and we were soon sifting through the large canvases trying to find our perfect piece. We've narrower it down to two, both depicting medicinal leaves, and have put them on hold for 24 hours. I will get Mum and Angus to take a look and help us decide!
I found a new Philippa Gregory book, and we wandered around the shops looking at the various bits and bobs. We popped into yet another camping store, where I resisted buying a snake bite kit!
Back at the campsite we had some lunch and had a long chat with Chris and Elaine. Truly fascinating people who really share our views of the world. This wiled away much of the afternoon, and soon Mum and Ang had arrived! After showing Mum around her first ever campsite and being showered with gifts (yay Flaming Hot Cheetos! America's finest) and generally catchin up after 9 months apart, they left to settle in with Duncan (Ang's brother) and his wife Steff. We arranged to meet later for supper.
We of course headed straight to the pool, and chatted with a Canadian girl (Barb) about her travels. We then headed off to Duncan's and went out for supper at a great Asian Fusion place (Mum can't last a week without a curry!). Fantastic company and a great night - we even have a new battery operated fan from the parents to look forward to in the tent!
