Friday 30th Nov

We said our goodbyes to New Zealand and checked out at 10am. We then had to wait for our airport pickup at 12noon which we unfortunately waited for 1hr and 30mins outside!! We couldn't visit the shops due to too many bags and Daniel's knee.

Our flight was delayed by 30mins, just cos we had to wait for the airline crew to arrive! No technical problems or anything like that, just the crew were running late!

While we were waiting around, we had a quick look around at the duty free shops. We came across to the digital cameras section and noticed the ones that were on special offer. Daniel haven't been happy with his current camera and was tempted to get another one which he did! He bought another one which was Sony Cybershot 7.2 Megapixels. it came with free case and 1gb memory card. So far he is pleased with it! He felt that it was very cheap comparing to the ones in UK.

During our flight, we didn't get any meals. Daniel was not very impressed cos he was starving and was forced to buy snacks to tide him over till we got to Melbourne! The flight was long but boring! There was inflight entertainment which you could hire the mobile dvd player to watch a couple of films. We wanted to till we found out that they don't provide subtitles again! So we declined it in the end to save our money.

Arrived to Melbourne and it was warm and bright! Before we proceeded to get a lift to the city centre. We made our way to our airline sale desk to change/cancel our flight tickets to Cairns as our tickets needed to be changed anyway due to the wrong dates. We were told that it was ideal to change it now while its cheap. Our original plan was that we would be in Melbourne for a week before getting a flight to Cairns. Then we would travel down to Sydney for christmas and new year. We felt that it would be a rush and impossible to see everything beforehand. So we thought to have a plan like that we would travel up to Sydney from Melbourne and then carry on to Cairns. THEN we would get a flight from Cairns to either Ayers Rock or back to Sydney. Unfortunately for us, we were unable to change it cos they needed to know the date to book from Cairns. We couldn't say when. So we had to leave it and tried to work it out that would be best for both of us and save us time/money too!

Once we got to our hostel, it was good so far till we got to our hostel room. It felt like as we were in a prison cell!! It was tiny and very dull!! But hey, we had to tell ourselves that we were only there to sleep!

We then thought to go for a walk around in the city centre to look for a vodafone sim card for our mobile. Unfortunately the shops were closed so we made our way back to the hostel for a drink in the bar. We had a voucher from the reception to entitle for a free pot of beer or cider (Pot mean 1/2 pint) Daniel was hoping that the pot meant that it would be bigger than a pint!

We were getting tired due to our bodies thinking that it was in New Zealand time. Our clock is now 2 hours behind from New Zealand, meaning 10 hours ahead of UK. So we retired to our beds.
