Friday 11th January

We checked out fairly early as we had to catch our coach to Townsville at 9:15am. We arrived at the ferry terminal at 12.45pm, 30mins early than expected. Unfortunately we just missed our ferry to Magnestic Island by 2 mins! So we had to wait for another hour for the next boat at 2:15pm.

The journey only took us about 30mins and then it was straight onto the local bus to take us to the Horseshoe bay where we were staying. The bay was on another side of the island from the ferry terminal so we thought to prepare for the long journey on the bus. However it was quick, only 20mins so that meant that island was very tiny!

We were dropped off at the front door of the hostel so there wasn't much of walking! After check-in, we looked around the area. It was easy to walk around as it wasnt very humid, thanks goodness! It was a nice location as we were based in the middle of the rainforest. On our way to the kitchen, there were plenty of small green parrots above on the trees. Lisa have seen them before as she have held or fed them in Tenerife.

As we were in the middle of nowhere, we decided to hire the dvd to keep us amused in the evening. Before we watched the dvd, we decided to pop into the bar and treated ourselves drinks as it was happy hour.

Suddently there were plenty of lightenings happening!! We were amazed as we weren't expecting to see it happening so many times. Unfortunately we had plenty of rain pouring down so we had to run for our lives to our room. There was a big puddle at the bottom of our stairs to access our room. It meant that we had to walk through. We just hoped that there wouldn't be any flood to find in the morning. We didnt want to be stranded!!

We watched the dvd before going to bed. Tomorrow, we are off to visit the local koala Park. Let hope the weather will be lovely and clear!
