Saturday 12th January
Bright and sunny which we were pleased for our day out! We were hoping to catch 10am guided tour but unfortunately we weren't ready by then so we had to wait till 12noon for the next tour.
We had to wait at the hostel reception for the guide to turn up and lead to the park.
Once we arrived at the entrance, we were already at the first display which had 4 baby crocodiles. We did notice that one of those had its mouth taped around. The guide gave a presentation on crocs before picking one with the mouth taped up. He then passed it around for us to hold it, have photos taken with it. We weren't sure at first till Lisa decided to have a go and managed to hold it! Daniel was still unsure and didn't in the end. Neverless, he did regret it in the end!
While the guide was giving a presentation, we heard the noises and found out that there was a black parrot-like sitting on the fence, trying to get our attention!
We moved onto the restaurant area where we spotted a white cockatoo (If its what it is!). While there was another presentation being given, the guide was carrying the black parrot-like and just gave it to Daniel's arm straight away without giving him preparation for it! Lisa had a go of course, she wouldn't miss any opportunity to hold anything!
Another presentation was about the dragon lizard. It was the kind when they feel threatened, they put their loose skins on their head up and start to run around on its 2 legs! The guide did show it to us which was quite funny to watch!
Next one was what we all have been waiting for, Koala presentation and the opportunity to hold it along with photos taken. Koala was very sleepy and seems to be not wanting to be disturbed! Within the display, there were 4 fat lizards which we were allowed to hold. Lisa decided to not to as she wasn't too keen to hold anything that can wriggle. Daniel felt more confident and held one which Lisa was happy to take photos!
Lisa was the first one out of all the people who got the chance to hold it. She was unsure as she wanted to watch how people hold the koala for safely. The guide just prompted Lisa to come forward and got her hands ready to support. He then put the male koala onto Lisa. The guide told us to act as we were the trees for Koalas! We didn't expect him to be heavy!! Photos taken and then it was Daniel's turn. Lisa was quite dissapointed as she wanted to be able to stroke and give him a proper cuddle but obviously it was risky!
After people had photos taken, we all moved onto the next creature which was a snake! Daniel was happy to hold the snake before passing it onto Lisa whom she didn't really enjoy wearing it! Its texture felt the same as the crocodile that Lisa held. That made Daniel regretted for not holding it.
Next to it, there were a big display with 4 big crocodiles whom looked so scary. However it probably wouldn't be scary for Steve Irwin!
We thought that was the end of the guided tour as we were leaded out of the entrance of the park. However the guide showed us the growing pineapples which we were tempted to take! Then we we realised that it wasn't the end of the tour. We were then taken into the rainforest where we saw plenty of fruit bats hanging upside on the trees! They were very big once they were flying about!
The tour was over by 2pm and it had been very hot and humid. As we had the rest of the afternoon to do something, we decided to jump into the hostel's pool to cool down!
We decided to stay extra night to chill out so we went to the reception to book it. while we were waiting, we noticed the advert for Aussie bush tucker breakfast buffet with Koalas which we decided to book for the next morning.
Evening came and we visited the bar again for happy hour. Unfortunately for us again, heavy rain were pouring down with plenty of thunders!
