Monday 26th Nov
Dolphins swimming time!! It was a struggle to get up in the morrning as we had to be there by 8.20am and to ensure that we got there in time, we had to leave at 7.30am! With Daniel's knee injury as well as Lisa's old knee injury playing up (again!), we also got to carry our bags as we were going back to Christchurch afterwards.
We arrived in perfect timing, with 15mins to spare. We were exhausted and our knees were ready to give up! We were directed to put our wetsuits on and got on the bus to the South Bay. It was about 10mins drive away from the town.
We were getting excited and thrilled that Lisa's dream was finally coming true. We then got the signal that we got to get ready as they found plenty of dolphins to swim with. We bought the waterproof camera to prove that we swam with them!
Before we reached to the location, Daniel was feeling seasick which took a while to sort it out before he joined to swim with the dolphins. It was very bumpy ride on the boat!
Lisa went ahead and jumped into the sea and freaked out abit as she was surrounded by too many dolphins and actually came to face to face with one! Eventually she relaxed and started to take photos of them and swam along with them.
Lisa then returned back to the boat to get Daniel to join in. Daniel managed to stable his seasickness and got to enjoy with the dolphins too. He was concerned about his knee injury as it was starting to play up again so he returned back to the boat to rest, while Lisa continued to snorkel.
Daniel rejoined again for a brief swim to ensure to make the most of the experience. While he was resting, he did get to see lots of dolphins in the distance, jumping up in the air while Lisa was seeing the dolphins swimming under her.
After we finished swimming with the dolphins, we took a lot of pictures of them before returning to the bay. In the end, we were thrilled with the experience and would never forget it. We just wish that it could go on all day but then we would be exhausted after trying to catch up with them! There was hundreds of them and you can see them in the distance.
Once we returned back to the encounter, we treated ourselves to have lunch as we didn't have any breakfast. We had a couple of hours to spare before catching a coach back to Christchurch. Again, we had to get the shuttle back to the bus stop. With a hour to spare, we just relaxed in the sun, taking few photos of the views.
The coach finally turned up at 3.15pm and we had a nap. The journey was very bumpy and tight as it was very full up.
Back to the same hostel in Christchurch, we checked ourselves in and here we are, updating the blog/photos.
We are in Christchuch for 4 nights before catching a flight to Australia.
