Sunday 25th Nov
Time to check out to catch the coach to Kaikoura at 11:30am. We left in plenty of time due to carrying too many bags to the bus stop which was at least 10 mins walk away(!)
We had 1 hour to spare so we just waited on the bench, enjoying the sun!
The coach arrived and it was basic, comparing to the luxury feeling that we had on Kiwi Experience. Luckily for us, we managed to have the seats to ourselves so Daniel can stretch his injured knee across the seats.
We eventually arrived to the town centre of kaikoura around 2.30pm. Unfortunately for us, our hostel was around 30mins walk away from the bus stop (2 kms) Daniel was unable to walk that far due to his knee, and it was impossible for Lisa to carry all the bags too. So we had to get the shuttle bus which was a fortune for just 2 mins drive!!
The hostel came with the beautiful view of the sea at the doorstep. We had to wait for at least a hour for the reception to open. Once we checked in, we decided to go for a walk around the coast as well as getting food for our tea from the supermarket.
Unfortunately the supermarket was around 4kms, it took us a good 1 hour and 30mins!! By the time we arrived to the supermarket, we were so knackered, especially in the hot weather!
We weren't keen to walk back again but what else can we do? So off we went again. It was a killer due to the extra weights to carry back again. We had to make sure that we got back to the hostel in time before we get locked out due to the security codes at 7.30pm. We didn't know the codes!
When we returned back to the hostel, we were amazed that we actually walked all the way and back which was totally 3 hours walk just for our tea! The supermarket was actually based across the sea, opposite the hostel! If we had a boat, it would be more quicker to go across instead of walking around the coast!
We had our tea with the view of the sea and we felt like that we were in cromer!
We ensured that we were already packed, ready to leave the hostel to walk to the dolphin encounter. More walking to do!
