A short drive from the hotel to visit Bushman's Centre in Pukekura. This Centre show how people make a living on the coast with sphagnum moss growing, old timber-milling techinques, possum trapping and helicopter Deer recovery.
First, we watched the quick film about the Deer recovery. It was quite awful to watch the deers being killed in the old days. But now, they just saved the deers and moved them into different regions. We walked around the Centre, looking at the displays. While we were at the first exhibition, there was a little box asking us to switch the light on if we wanted to see the possum. Unfortunately it was a mistake cos once Daniel did it, Lisa was squirted by the water, like it was the possum's urine! We did also see the real Possum, who is the oldest Possum at 11 years old. We have also saw wild pig and deers. Lisa think Possum is very cute and wanted to take it home with her(!)
We arrived near Franz Josef in the afternoon after a long journey, we went to the top of the Sentinel Rock to get a good view of the Franz Josef Glaciers, to take picture of the Glaciers. It was quite different from what we were expecting. We were expecting to see the full clean white snow but unfortunately due to the bad weather conditions recently, it have turned into dirty colours.
We arrived to the town of Franz Josef to book for our Full- Day Glaciers walk. We are looking forward to it and certainly will bring with few layers of clothes to keep us warm!
After checking ourselves at the hostel, we went straight to do food shopping for tonight's dinner. The weather wasn't great as it have been pouring! When we've returned from the supermarket, we thought to start cooking while it was quiet. Luckily we have finished cooking food by the time it got busier!
In the evening, we did our laundry and it wasn't cheap as we had to pay a lot to tumble dry them! In the end we have spent over $10. We then went to the bar to meet up with our group from Kiwi Experience. It was enjoyable as we played pool match too with them and we didn't go to bed until 1am. Oop! Bad idea when we have got Glacier climbing to do tomorrow!
