What does a great British seaside holiday mean to you? Crabbing and candyfloss, garish graphics and 70s pop, ice cream, and crumbling piers packed with glittering lights and amusement arcades?
Well, picture something like that but substitute the sea for a lake, quadruple the amount of ice cream being sold and add some over-excited Indians in pedalos -- who I'm really not sure appreciate how incredible kitsch this is all is, at least not on the same level as us British would -- and you've got Mount Abu.
Fun and frolics aside, it seems that this is merely a drop in the ocean in terms of the many 'troubled' western trends being revived here...
The desire to cling onto cheesy 80s music I can almost understand -- after all, Indians are all disco divas at heart -- but 60s Flares! Come on!! Despite their Bee-Gee-like bounce-back in the 90s, flares should really have been banished to the bottom of our parents wardrobes long ago, not now being modelled on pubescent boys... It encourages them to strut!
All I can say is: western culture has a lot to answer for sometimes.
