When asked to share his thoughts about seeing Rhinos, David offers: "they're big". A slight disservice, I'd say.

...They're friggin huge!

And stack one-on-top-of-another they form the most colossal road block I've ever seen!! It was amazing actually: we're being driven down this dirt track and I'm trying to puzzle out the enormous silhouette in front of us, as our guide gets really excited. Apparently, catching Rhinos mating is really rare. And a little bit dangerous: our driver turned the jeep around before stopping (I presume, so we could make a quick exit) and our armed escort protectively put himself between us and the loved-up couple.

The show continues. My attention is drawn from the spectacle in front of me by movement along the tree line and I can believe my eyes: parading out onto the plain is a herd of fourteen wild elephants! Oh, and to complete the picture a lone Rhino stands in the foreground -- totally unconcerned by the new arrivals -- with the occasional deer dotted around the scene, for good measure. It was nothing short of a shot from something that I'd expect to be shown on the Discovery channel.

And to think, we almost missed this: the park was being closed for the monsoon season the very next day!

Whereas elephants are majestic, Rhinos command a different type of respect: they are such solid, immovable creatures. They hold the same serenity about them as their taller friends, but you just know: they could take you down!

Well, perhaps not the baby Rhinos. I can't still get over how cute they were, with their oversized ears (they'll grow into them).

The finale to our Safari had people actually shaking our hands, for our amazing luck: we spotted a tiger! An enormous, Royal Bengal Tiger!! He was so big that he spanned the entire track as he crossed into the grasses on the other side of the road. It was thrilling. I now understand how all those deer we were watching, standing on high alert, felt. It really got our adrenaline pumping.
