A much better day in placement today, got myself attached to the registrar after an interesting teaching session on different diseases in the tropical region including Melioidosis...and some cultural teaching. The type of patient here are very similar to that in the uk, and the differences tend to be the rarities I think so far... Lunchtime teaching by the interns, our f1 equivalents was pretty good, interesting talk on Weils disease... I chose not to share dads story...then a cheeky bit of registrar teaching on pain relief... I think I was all taught out... So
It was definitely sunshine time...Plan for the next week or so is to do a mix of some evenings and some nights, to maximise daylight hours out of hospital...more time for doing stuff as it gets dark so early, not a lot to do in the evenings so they are pretty boring, whereas if we were in placement in evenings we could utilise days for enjoyment!
A consultant is setting us up to hopefully spend some time with the flying doctors.... It appears to be so unbelievably easy when you're in the country, trying to organise it from the uk was nigh on impossible... So hopefully, fingers crossed we get to spend some time with them!
An afternoon spend on the lagoon chilling out turned into a traumatic event when a group of lads set up a game around us.., deciding that we were intact part of the pitch and had no qualms in kicking the ball over us, and indeed on occasion at us.. And we're far to competitive for any park game..!
But the highlight of my day was Zumba!!! We zumba'd outside... At least 100 people all zumbaing outside to the music..! Was amazing! Just like an outside party!!! Ah god I feel the need to have a good dance!! So we danced as the sun set, the moon shone and then had a cool down when the heavens opened..!
Evening of chill axing, Kat cooked a cracking dinner, which has upped the game for Stephi and I!!
Night night xxxx
