We had planned to meet Andy and Jodie and hire a taxi boat to go snorkelling round the island today, but unfortunately Jodie had fallen ill with a tummy bug. We decided to postpone until tomorrow and Scott and I settled down for another day on the beach in glorious sunshine. I was well into my reading now, having finished a whole novel front to back yesterday. Throughout the day I was packing on the factor 50 sun lotion we'd bought in Australia, determined not to end up a typical Brit abroad 'aka' lobster red. However it seems I may have been a bit overzealous as Scott joked at the end of the day I was whiter than when I had started!
To be honest by about 3pm we were about done in and retired to the shade of our bungalow for an afternoon siesta. I could really get used to this! In the evening we headed back to the same restaurant, Fizz, because the food is so bloody tasty. We lay back on the beach bean bags at their bar watching the sky turn a gorgeous shade of pink as the sun dipped behind the sea, and I dipped a bit more into my rather large glass of wine. Dinner was some rather scrumptious squid with aiolo dip for me and pad thai for Scott, but to be honest it is hard to choose as the menu is so vast and yummy sounding. With our bellies full we walked back along the beach in the moonlight. The tide had gone out an amazing length (luckily not disappeared or we'd be panicking about a Tsunami - and Scott assures me from reading his SAS survival guide that this is the only natural disaster for which they have no practical advice other than run) and the sand bar had left some warm and shallow tidal pools which we splashed through on our way back to bed. Shamefully I'm ready to hit the pillow by 9pm these days - I think the last 4 months must have taken it out of me!
