It's actually quite difficult to switch off and relax when you're so used to be active and on the go. I was really enjoying reading my survival book. I keep boring Ju to death with facts about edible food that can be found in the wilds. I have reached the section on traps and snares. Not so sure I will be making spring loaded traps or dead weight traps - a bit dangerous! We made our way into town and waited for the ferry boat to Koh Tao. I found being in the presence of too many 'too cool to smile tie-die dreaded dick-heads' blowing their smoke everywhere really annoying - so this is what it's like to hang out with the cool crowd?! On the boat the 'too cool to smile gang' had firmly planted themselves at the front of the boat in the sun. Oh well, we just sat inside with the squares not realising that the 'too cool to smile gang' were going to have their coolness tested once we got under way. I had though sitting near the front of the boat would give us more leg room. This was a poor decision as the boat travelled over 2 to 4 metre waves. Ju felt a little sick and we decided to move to the rear of the boat. Just before moving we could hear screams from the front of the boat. I smiled with amusement as the 'too cool to smile gang' were getting soaked and tossed around by the waves - hilarious middle aged justice, not so smug now, try lighting a fag out there on deck suckers! On deck I tried to ignore the boat twisting and creaking as it got buffeted by the waves. The wind had whipped up some pretty big waves - I am glad I chose to be a graphic designer and not a crab fisherman in the Bearing Straights.
After a spot of walking around we found a beach bungalow. I jumped in the sea and had a splash around before my Thai massage. I was in heaven as my Thai masseur pulled, pushed, prodded, rubbed and squeezed my body with massage oils. I relaxed and watched the sun slowly make it's way down to just above the horizon. After my massage we walked the beach. The sunset was red and majestic. Along the beach was a collection of bungalows and restaurants. Trees over hung the water and were decorated with fairy lights. We sat by the waters edge - Ju had ordered a BBQ fish and I ordered Massman curry. Both dishes were delicious. We walked the beach for a while before returning to our bungalow. Unfortunately the young group next door decided to have a party until 5 am in the morning - never mind, I guess every plum has a stone!
