Lovely to read all your messages. was fab news to hear that youre out of hospital Dave! :)
We arrived back in Bangkok a few hours a go after travelling all day from Koh Chang. Koh Chang was lovely. The weather was miserable! Rainy season sucks! The first two days we stayed in Lonely beach, in the Sunflower huts. Just plain wooden shacks with cold showers. The bathroom had no roof so got drenched whenever we needed a wee!! There were plenty of bars and hippy hangouts. The Tree House was definately our favourite. Cushions, hammocks and lazy days. We met our first true travelling friends who advised us to take a look at the Tree House in the south of the island.
That evening we went to a party on the beach, sat on rugs surrounded by fires. We met some other travellers and talked, drank buckets and beers and watched some amazing fire shows. Si saw the blokes in the bathrooms afterwards soothing their burns.
Next day we headed to Long beach, the other tree house. Sadly we tried to get a jungle trek but it was low season and the one guy the locals knew of was ill. The Tree House was a hippy heaven. No running water and electric didnt come on until 6pm. The showers consisted of a tub of rain water and a bucket. The toilets were basically a hole in the floor. We spent the two days chilling on hammocks, spotting little fish in the sea and sampling some good Thai food. Our hut, costing four pounds a night, was right on the beach front. Spotted some real hippies in orange tie-dyed tops and bright trousers. We obviously didnt fit in.
We headed back to Lonely beach for our final day in Koh Chang and spent the day drinking whilst sheltering from the rain. Went to a free BBQ at Ting Tong bar and retired back to the huts for cheaper spermarket bought beers.
Sadly we've both suffered from bites and a bit of a dodgy belly but nothing really bad! We're back in Bangkok for washing and planning take a visit to the Tiger Temple and floating markets before heading south in few days time. Hope all is well back home.
