Hey everyone. It's so hot here!! Simon can't stop leaking. Just incase you've not heard - we'll brag again about our FREE UPGRADE on the flight. Champagne. food menus, hot towels!! Arrived in Bangkok and struggled to get through immigration as we werent given an arrival card...there weren't any about and the Thai people couldnt quite understand and just kept sending us away. Finally got through and jumped on the bus to Khao San Road.
First night we spent here was on Khao San Road. It's crazy! We sampled buckets, beers and ate bugs! Managed to fight our way home dodging endless street sellers offering ping pong shows, fake ID, suits and annoying frogs.
The second day we ventured out to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. The Grand Palace was so colourful and spectacular! Lots of little buildings decorated with golden shiny tiles. After we headed to Wat Pho where we saw the reclining Buddha. It's feet were bigger than Kims!!! Come night time we didnt have enough energy to cope with the Khoa San Road so enjoyed a nice meal in the hotel (which by the way is nice and bug free). Explored the side streets and had cheaper and quieter drinks.
Today went to Jim Thompson's house - a bloke who created the silk buisness within Thailand and exported it to the world. Apparently kidnapped whilst in Malaysia - never to be seen again! His house was stunning - all wooden and overlooking pretty gardens. Plenty of pictures! Strolled on to the MBK shopping centre to spot a bargain or two - although there were none! The place was massive! Also seem to be a magnet for con-men claiming building closed and offering to take us elsewhere! Having a quiet night tonight and then off to Koh Chang in the morning...8 hour journey. Praying it has air-con!!
