We made it to Ko Samui after our mega long journey. Picked up some accommodation at the airport, and we are currently staying in Bophut which is in the north of the island at a beach side resort.
The airport was unique, the smallest airport we have seen, a thatched hut with a conveyor belt for the luggage.
The beach is beautiful where we are staying, white sand and lovely blue sea. With a view of the other islands. We have spent most of our time relaxing on the beach catching some sun and reading our books.
Managed to find the time to get some clothes made for new years eve so that we don't look like complete scruff bags. They look really good and are unique Wood/Goosey designs!!
Yesterday we went on a tour of the island and visited Wat Leam Suwanaram, which was very beautiful and covered in gold and mirrors, very different from the Hindu temples in Bali. We also visited the Khunaram Temple (which had a dodgy mummified monk in it).
Went to see the Big Buddha which is a 12 metre high gold buddha on its own island. We visited one of the waterfalls and went on an Elephant trek, on a 25 year old elephant. It was really good, but a bit bumpy, we had to hold on tight a couple of times, and duck our heads for the low branches.
Today we are having a catch up day, before we move onto a different beach tomorrow. We think we are going to head to Maenam and maybe do a day trip to Koh Tao a small island 40k north and to the National Marine Park.
We will hopefully get some pics on the website soon, the electric shocks from the computer is stopping us at the minute!!!
