We survived the overnight sleeper train last night. We had to sleep in bunks which the guard made up for you, in a carriage with loads of other bunks. We had some little cockroaches in our cabin but we survived. Killed four of them...
When we arrived we took a tuk tuk to the hotel and had breakfast, the rest of the group went off to do and elephant trek and we got a driver for the day and went to the Doi Suthep temple which is right on the side of a mountain. It was really impressive, the Stupa was covered in gold leaf and the locals were making offerings to the buddhas of lotus flowers. The view was amazing and we could see over the whole of Chiang Mai. After that we went to the hill tribe museum and learnt all about the hill tribes in and around Thailand, it was really interesting. We also visited some local handicraft places and saw lacquerware being made.
In the evening we went to the night market which was really good, Jo was buying everything, and we can't figure out how she is going to carry everything...
We cross the border into Laos tomorrow...
