We crossed the border today into Laos. To get to the border we had to get the chicken bus from Chiang Mai.

We had to leave our Thai guide behind and met our Laos guide Kham at the border.  We took a boat over the Mekong and passed through immigration and headed to our guest house.  We walked up to a temple to watch the sunset and hear the monks chanting which was really good, and then went to dinner.  We managed to eat even though there were about ten power cuts.  Jim had to eat half of his meal in the dark with a mobile phone lighting up his meal.

We had a few drinks on the balcony of the hotel after dinner (group bonding)and got told off by a French man for being too loud...Jim and Pat even got a second warning.
