We picked the car up on the 1st and headed straight off onto the Pacific Coast Highway - Route 1. Jim upgraded the car to a massive Chrysler thingy (fake Bentley) in gold....... Drove through Santa Monica, Malibu and Santa Barbara on the first day. 2nd June - we continued the drive and stopped at Morro Bay for some lunch at a sea shack - which was fab and then drove up through Big Sur. The roads were very winding and through the mountains along the coast line, but the scenery was amazing. 3rd June - Visited Carmel Valley in the morning and then wandered around Carmel in the afternoon. Carmel is very pretty - flower lined streets. Once again a local told us that the weather was unusually good for this time of year (Lucky Jim) So in the afternoon we went to the beach and lay in the sunshine which was great. The water was freezing - and some people were swimming in it - mad... 4th June - Spent the day in Monterey just along the coast from Carmel, we went to a British pub for lunch, Sim had Pasty and Mashed potatoe and Jim had Fish and Chips (Living the high life). We then drove along 17 mile drive in the afternoon which was beautiful, there are a four golf courses on the coast one of them being Pebble Beach Links, so we got out and took a photo next to the 18th Green!. Off to San Fransisco tomorrow...
