15th June - Jim managed to watch the football this morning - we headed off later than expected to our next destination. 16th June - Drove through Joshua Tree National Park this morning. Were wondering why it was called this until we came across hundreds of Joshua Trees!!! Went to Key view which overlooked the valley of Palm Springs created by the San Andreas Fault. We then went to Palm Springs and went on the Ariel Tramway (2nd highest cable car in the world). We went up 6000 feet on a revolving cable car to Mount San Jacinto which was 8600ft up. The views were great and you could see the san adreas fault (if you looked really carefully). Back in L.A now, we have handed the car back and are off to Hawaii tomorrow to do some relaxing on the beach. We are sad to see the car go - its been great driving around California - could have done with a few more weeks here....
