This morning I decided to to try my luck at fishing out the front of our van I caught 6 black and yellow grunters they werent big but they were fun catching them. At 11am we drove out to the Argyle dam went in to dead horse springs but almost dry.,we went accross the dam wall and down to a nice little park overlooking the river and had a picnic lunch we could see crocks down in the river , had lunch with some greater bower birds they have a topnotch on th back of there heads that looks like a purple flower when its opened.Went up to the caravan park and had a coffee and bought a book on the Gibb River Road, then walked up and took a photo of the infinity pool. It was time to go and get on the boat for our cruise, the Orde river is 55klm long, the Argyle dam is the largest lake in Australia it is 13 to 14 times the volume of Sydney Harbour,in 2011 it was the highest it has ever been and was about 41 times the volume of Sydney Harbour. We jumped in and had a swim there are roughly 25 thousand fresh water crocks in the dam we saw rock wallabys and walleroos and we fed the fish , there are 26 species of fish in the dam. It is 70kl long and 45kl wide. We had another swim then sipped champagne while we watched the sun set .The dam wall is an earth filled wall consisting of firstly clay then sand and finally rock it is 335mts long and 35mts wide it was finished in 1971 and it took three dry seasons to build it bit by bit a realy lovely day.
