Well, the big day had finally arrived...we were going to Cadbury World!! So excited....
It was an early start for a Sunday morning...we were meeting at the train station at 9:20am. It had been quite cold overnight, as it has done for a fair bit of the time we've been here, but it didn't quite warm up as we would have hoped. At 9am in the morning, as we were leaving, it was -4C!!!!!
Anyhow, met at the train station and ended up running for the train as the times were a little bit earlier than we thought. We got to Bournville with no worries though, even having time to attempt to break the ice on the frozen river next to the train station (see video). We had to wait a bit for our entrance time so we had a look around the shop and a drink before hopping in the queue.
Eily doesn't like the first section which deals with the history of chocolate. It is quite dark and full of waxwork figures but isn't as long as I remember it being. Next we had to wait for some presentations on the history of Cadbury's and how they make the chocolate nowadays. We then walked through the processing and packaging plant and had our photo taken with Santa. They have a Cadabra ride - really just a chance to see cocoa beans in action...hehe...
They then have a new place called the Purple Zone. This is where you can play with chocolate buttons (on screens) and jump to unwrap chocolates (see video). Apparently, you can normally make a mould of yourself in chocolate but it wasn't working =(
We then went to the playground and Essence - a new part of the experience....I can not remember what the shows before were about but you then went into a room where you could pick something a have chocolate poured over it to eat...so good!! You could choose from marshmallows, biscuit pieces, winegums, licorice allsorts, sports mix, rice crispies and the list goes on...mmmmmm..I'm getting hungry now just thinking about it!
We bought a few things in the shop and then went to get the train home. The train between Birmingham and Coventry was packed. Imagine a footy train home and then add suitcases to the mix and that's how packed it was... quite amusing trying to get off really! It was tea at Pat and Michael's for everyone so we caught up with everyone again..
Not really much planned for the next few days. Off to London on Wednesday and then Crawley with family again on Thursday...
