Still sweltering in Warragul. It hit almost 50 degrees outside, ugh. I know that most of you are freezing at home, but it's not much fun out here either!!
There are a couple of bush fires burning, a few towns over from us, and we can see the smoke plumes from the back yard. It's quite a sight, I can tell you. It almost looks like grey rain cloud, but obviously not as it's coming from land and is mushrooming as it gets to the top!! We aren't in any danger, but it's yet another reminder of where I am (not that I really needed any, mind).
So, it also looks like our Great Ocean Road plans have been a bit scuppered as these bush fires will probably last a couple of weeks, and our route to the Road does go near the fires! Eeeeks! Also, in this searing heat, going on the Road will just be unbearable!! The flies will be out in force as well - ack!! So, if I pop myself on a plane to New Zealand in the next few days, I'll avoid the heat (and the bush fires) and by the time I come back in 3 weeks time or so, the weather will have got much cooler here - yay!
Hopefully still going to Phillip Island on Sunday though, where there are cute fairy penguins!! However, it does depend on what happens with the bush fires as if they spread quite quickly, then all travel plans are off!
