Zvi Josef's Travels
Well, this is our final half day in Hanoi, which was not really planned, but hey, who cares to just bum around and get some rest, ha? :)
Last night, we were informed that the weather in Halong Bay does not allow for a cruise (torrential rains and storm), so we decided to stay a couple of more hours in Hanoi and get to Halong Bay only in the late afternoon/early evening, as there is basically nothing much to do there other than the cruise. SInce we already prepaid the hotel and our limo ride, we simply have to go, but decided to have a couple of more hours in Hanoi for some rest and walking around. :)
We'd be checking out of the hotel around 4PM and get to Halong Bay at apx. 7PM.
While the hotel there (Novotel Halong Bay) won't be as nice as this hotel (the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi), we're sure to enjoy it as well. :)
We're soon off to buy sunglasses for Ami and some other stuff as well. :)
More to come - during our limo ride (as it includes WI-FI). ;)
23:30 update:
We arrived at Halong Bay after 3 hours on the awful roads of northern Vietnam.
Even with the ultra comfortable limo we were at, the road was just bad.
In the middle of the road a torrential storm started and visibility was down to 0 feet, so we were literally going at 20 km/h.
Later on, we stopped at a place, which is a big orphanage of people who were injured during the war and became one big family. They produce a lot of artifacts there and sell them at (high) prices. Still, most of the items were beautiful (especially the statues).
We ended up getting to the hotel at 19:30, and well, it's a 4-star hotel (the best in town, but still, not quite up to the standards of us Divas). :)
We got an upgraded room and some amenities, but we still do not know if the cruise is possible tomorrow, due to the severe weather.
We had a mediocre dinner at the hotel and went on a 1 hour walk by the bay, which was mostly sweaty.
Now we're lounging around the lobby, catching up with some things at home.
Tomorrow - it's either Halong Bay cruise or the hotel's pool. :)
G'night! :)
