We arrived in Tulum downtown and immediately caught a cab for a place that Benny, Caroline & Tom knew near the beach. We arrive to find it booked out and instead head back to where we saw some restaurants with accommodation nearby. I caught the local bus to Belize City and loved the experience. Cruising along with the window down, the Carribean tunes playing over the buses speakers top volume and me the only white girl on a bus full of people mostly black folks of African decent, and 100% Carribean cool! It was great to also be able to understand most conversations (although that Creole stuff is a bit funky!) and to watch the locals interact. We arrived in Belize City to a gated bus stat...

I arrived in San Ignacio early having caught the 5am bus from Flores to the Guatemalan border, then a $15 cab from there to town. I'd farewelled the 6 kiwis and 4 Poms at the border as they were headed with the bus onto Belize City, but may see some of them again in Caye Culker! It was a relief to be in a country where they speak english and to be able to communicate freely! I asked the driver for a recommendation as to where to stay and ended up at J&R Gu...
