The Ticabus took us via Honduras and finished for the night in San Salvador, El Salvador - a whopping 14.5 hours after leaving Managua!
Fortunately the bus was not full so had a seat to myself to spreadout, read & nap.
It's by far the best bus I've used in Central America (not hard) but not better then the luxury leather seated beauty we rode on in Peru (that Hernan had kept hidden from us!) and did not have the comfy pull down calve rests that some of the good overnight ones in Uruguay / Peru had.
It was clean though with TVs & toilets on board so really shouldn't be complaining!!!
No actually I will complain some more (quite tired you see!). You would think with the prices they charge & the amount of foreigners on board they'd give us some of the briefings in English.
Of the 3 times we got off the bus in transit, I wasn't exactly sure why & how long we were there for, so stuck close as not to get left behind.
Our lunch stop was about 3pm & wasn't sure if we were getting one so by this point I'd eaten nothing but chips and dry sponge cake all day, and between this and my recently acquired sore throat & swollen glands - I was just about ready to vomit when we rolled to a stop at an Esso 'Tiger Market' in El Salvador!
Ok maybe I just need to learn more Spanish and then I wouldn't need to whinge?!
The area we stayed in San Salvador was quite nice looking and very modern - only the security guard watching over the bus with a rifle as we unpacked, reminded me that we weren't at home!
I shared a room that night with Canadian Danny and had dinner with fellow Brisbane couple, Vinko & Collette. They were a great bright, fun couple (Im seriously not just writing this because I gave you my blog address!) but being around them cheered me up lots after the long day.
Next morning we were up early and back on the bus at 6am for an uneventful border crossing to Guatemala, and onto Guatemala City.
