We arrived in La Paz approx. 7am only 30 minutes behind schedule. We fortunately were able to check into the hotel immediately and then spent half the day sleeping! We left Potosi on a 6 hour bus drive to Uyuni that took only just over 5 hours ... It was bumpy as all Bolivian roads seem to be, but breathtaking scenery along the way and a break that saw us rounding up llamas to photograph! Sucre is 2700 metres above sea level so arrived a little concerned about altitude sickness, but when we stepped out of the plane the air was beautiful crisp and clean and felt fine! We stayed at Hotel Indepencia which had a great feel to it, with decor of chandeliers and antique furniture. We had an uneventful border crossing from Brazil into Bolivia.   We thought we were only to be passing through Puerto Suarez briefly on our way to the airport, then onto Santa Cruz, but after waiting around the airport for a couple of hours we discovered that our flight did not exist!
