We arrive in Flores after another long day of traveling having left at 6am and arrived about 4pm.
We check into the hotel recommended by the tour company, Mirador Del Lago and I get a private room with bathroom for the equivalent of $6 per night! Luxury compared to my previous 2 nights!!!
The kiwi boys shop around and get us transfers to Tikal the next day for 50 Quetzales - a saving of $30.
We go for dinner and as we've now met other people at the hostel, our group has swollen and it takes 2 hours for the food to arrive at our table!
We all head home straight to bed.
We're up early and waiting for our Tikal transfer at 4.30am which of course is late!
It arrives and we head off for Tikal - a gorgeous red sunrise happens while we sit on the bus - I'm disappointed as thought the early tour meant we were there for the sunrise!!!
We arrive and I split of from the group as prefer to pay another $50 Quetzales to join a tour with a guide.
He's entertaining but doesn't really tell us as much information as I would have liked. The highlight being getting to play with the tarantula he has lined up along the tour!
He also talks about the end of the Mayan calendar and their does seem to be the shares belief that at the end of this Mayan era that yes there will e changes, perhaps even a polar shift and that's what the changes in the earth we are experiencing now are. All believe though that there will be a change in our awareness or consciousness. He put it that most will survive but perhaps not all will adapt.
Not long after the beginning of my Tikal tour I got nauseous, then tired. I made myself throw up and felt a little better for a little while.
When I met up with the old group again I found out most of us were sick!
Some had started the previous night, others that morning and then some even once we got back to Tikal.
I spent the aftenoon sleeping and tried eating that evening only to be ill! I never really believed that green puke from the exorcist and projectile vomiting was possible until that day!
I still booked my onward ticket to San Ignacio, Belize and woke up tired but well enough to travel.
