At this point I'm very much looking forward to heading to Buenos Aires and some excitement!
The first day in Ushuaia was crazy warm weather ... Approx 25 degrees which is pretty hot for a town famed fir being 'El Fin De Mundo
(end of the world), more southern then NZ and the launch pad to Antarctica!
The remaining days were cold and overcast so we should have made the most of the first day!!!!
Didnt do Beagle Channel tour (was over boats & bird watching),didn't do Tierra Del Fuego (was over hiking and pics didn't compare to what we'd ready done), so chose instead to bum around town and check out the museums ... Went to quite a few and learnt about the indigenous Yemana people, visited a prison and learnt about the first settlers and a few more that were all making me yawn by the end!
The highlight was food and had my first 'parilla' experience and so good that I had it 2 nights in a row :-)
I guess our equivalent would be a spit, but they basically splay the animal (laaambb in my case) across a stake and roast it in a hot pit for a few hours ... The ribs were absolutely devine!
Hit the local pub as well ... All the good ones were Irish - even went to the casino, bad move though as was dead and shouldn't have bothered!
Have developed a taste for the Fernet and coke, and warming to the Argentinian mens hair fashion ... Short with a few super long dreds randomly hanging from the back of their head - still struggling a bit with the guys who look like they're sporting a mullet!
So far agree that generally they are a pretty sexy race ... Of course not all of them, but there are definitely a few stand outs amongst them :-)
Flight from Ushaia to BA only left 20 minutes late ... A bit questionable on their security when the put me through a metal detector and my bag through a scanner but still let me enter with a litre of water and my mini leatherman with knife & scissors?!
A few things to note ...
* At this point we finally realized the C on the tap is for = caliente (hot) and not C for cold! (der!)
* Have not found soy milk anywhere in Chile or Argentina
* One can see too many glaciers ... They're to Patagonia what temples are to South East Asia!
