Our next major destination was 90 Mile Beach, which really is about 90 miles long!!! It goes on forever, and some say it is the longest beach in Australia!! And luckily enough it has a load of free camping just in behind the dunes, and more excitingly you can build a campfire here!! So we have spent the last couple of days walking along the beach, scavenging for firewood, then cooking dinner over a bonfire....the prawn and potato curry was a real highlight on t...

From there we headed south to Philip Island, which is known for its wildlife, specifically its penguin parade, where about 700 penguins come up out of the surf every evening and settle into the beach for the night. Unfortunately for us this happens at 8pm at night and we are not allowed to drive between dusk and dawn (due to kangaroos liking to cross the road no matter what is on it)!! From there it was pretty much getting into Melbourne. We had to stay in a caravan park for the first time...but on the plus side there was a free sausage sizzle, and free Easter eggs given out!!! So it wasn't a bad experience...plus showering 3 days in a row in a real shower will always be appreciated!!! From here we had our first taste of Melbourne, we headed in to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) to watch an Aussie Rules game...which was a great experience....

After that we started on our first real tourist attraction...the Great Ocean Road (GOR). The area is known for its powerful sea, steep cliffs and ever changing coastline due to rapid erosion. We stopped off at all the usual spots and enjoyed seeing the coast. So we landed into Sydney Airport still not knowing what we were going to do to get around Oz , or where exactly we were going to go to! Luckily we managed to make it to our hostel very easily which left us just enough time to go for a little walk!! We took in Darling Harbour and headed down to the Quay, where we saw the Opera House, the Bridge and most importantly for Shane, The Quay Restaurant, the best in Australia!!!
