So we arrived into Singapore and started using their very efficient public transport system straight away!! We found our hostel easy enough and then headed out to have our first catch up with Mags and Linda. Was great to see some familiar faces and exchange all our news.....we headed to one of Singapore's infamous hawker markets. These are like food courts with numerous cheap eating options of every Asian cuisine and a communal eating area...in other words food...

Although you could go back to the sanctuary often for your daily fix of cuteness we decided to leave and head down to Sukau and check out the river Kinabatangan, which is Sabahs longest river with a huge amount of wildlife on the banks....so we booked into our hostel, and after a bit of negotiation, signed up for an afternoon cruise, night cruise and a nice early morning one, all on a little open topped boat.....we sat down for lunch at 12 when the rain started...

After a very brief stopover, due to a slight lack of planning on our behalf, in Jakarta we started our Asian adventure in Borneo, Malaysia. We flew into Kota Kinabalu late at night so it was the next day before we were able to explore and plan...so off we set to check out our options and have a stroll around the waterfront. Unfortunately for some reason we seemed to have left our sense of direction in Australia so we spent a good while wandering around and try...

Once we were back in Brisbane, Shane cooked a really tasty meal as a small way of saying thanks to Ivy, Heather and Bob for their hospitality and generosity while we were there. We really did have a great time having a home and some friendly faces for a week after all the time away. After that it was pretty much just a matter of driving down to Sydney over the next couple of days to get the van back. We stopped off in Byron Bay which is a hippie surfer's parad...

After that Bob and Heather had kindly (or more likely crazily!!) offered to let us borrow their 4x4 Ute to head to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. We had a great few days driving on the sand and seeing all the sights on the island. On the first day we headed up to the top, checking out Champaign Pools, Indian Head and Waddy Point- which def involved some of the craziest driving we did. We were being thrown about as we went over all the bump...
