The next morning we headed south again, passing some of the playful dolphins and then checking out a river for Shane to try his luck!!! Not that we needed a catch as we have so much sea perch to keep us fed for a few days!!!...Then it was onto Christchurch where we saw the damage the earthquake has caused. It is crazy even 2 years on it looks like a bomb has hit it, with buildings missing parts and being held up with steel and containers. Loads of the city centre...

Then we off on the ferry to the South Island...it's a 4 hour crossing through the Cook Strait and the Queen Charlotte Sound...very picturesque.....we headed to a campground slightly north of Blenheim to stop up for the night.- technically we maybe shouldn't have been staying there...which is why we got a visit from a nice district officer....luckily he fell for the old Irish charm and let us stay the night anyway...on the condition that we were gone by 7am...so...

We stocked up on provisions before hitting the road south. We headed to Otaki and went to Te Horo beach where we had a chilled afternoon, before deciding that was far too relaxing and we should get bogged down in the pebbles....luckily a few locals were around who helped push and tow us out!!!...never a dull moment with us!!! We parked up for the night right next to the beach, falling asleep listening to the waves in the background! The next morning we decided...

Our shuttle was booked for 9am the next morning, about 25mins away...so we had planned to get up at 7.30 to get there, breakfast, make sarnies and be ready to head....so imagine our shock the next morning when Shane luckily woke up and Phil looked at her watch and it said 8.05....the phone battery had died...so there were things flying everywhere as we tried to get on the road as quickly as possible!!!...the campervan looked as though it had been robbed!!!...but...

The next morning we got into Turangi town for some local advice, and to pick up some different flies, then it was time for the serious business of fishing to get underway!! Shane started at the bottom of the river and slowly worked his way up though all the rips and pools....catching 2 small rainbows, which were let back in straight away. You can only keep fish over 45cm here!!!! (a little bigger than the Bandon River)....while he was doing this Phil did the Ton...
