It's our last night in Brisbane we've had 3 nights here. We are staying at Brisbane City YHA. Again we have our own room with an ensuite. On the roof is seating where we eat dinner and a pool that overlooks the city. Its lovely at night time. Yesterday we wanted to see the city so we got on the hop-on hop-off bus. We went up to Mount Cout-Tha, a look out point over the whole city then caught the bus to Chinatown. It was quite cool there but not as good as the Chinatown in Singapore. We then got on the City Ferry along the Brisbane river. We went under the story bridge and got off at South Bank Parklands. There's loads of cafes, bars and a massive outdoor pool and beach right on the riverside. It was packed being a Sunday with lots of people having picnics and bbq's. It was such a hot day we wished we had brought our swimming stuff and had a swim in the pool.
Today we went to Australia Zoo! It was such a brilliant day. The zoo is massive and everything is out in the open. You can walk through the field where the kangaroos are and also through the enclosure where the koalas are chilling up in the trees. At midday we watched the show at the Crocoseum. They brought on loads of different birds, snakes and then the croc. They held out a piece of meat over the water and the croc would jump out of the water and get it- really fast. We then went and had our picture taken hugging a Koala- loved it the Koalas are so cute! We also got some Roo food and fed the kangaroos out of our hands- brilliant! In the afternoon there was a tiger show which we watched. The keepers work really closely with the tigers and had taught them loads of tricks. They would stand up with the front paws on the keepers shoulders, sit up, climb up things. The best trick was the painting. The tiger had been taught to first step on to the orange paint (harmless paint) and then on to paper leaving two paw prints. The keeper told us that they hardly ever do this and they only did 3 pieces so if you wanted to buy one you had to be quick. I really wanted one so we got up before the end of the show, 2 were already gone so I got the last one! While I paid and the show ended loads of people asked the guy if they could have one. It was $50 well worth it and in buying it I have saved 10 tigers in the wild too! Just got to find a way to post it home! After that we went and fed the elephants. We had such an amazing day at Australia Zoo, you can't come to Australia and not go there! Fantastic!
Tomorrow we leave Brisbane for a short journey to Surfers Paradise.. (back to the beach :) )
