We set off for Franz Josef and saw some beautiful scenery on the way. We called at a few towns like Greymouth and Hokitika.

Next day we planned to do the glacier walk and got a special deal with stray and got a 3 quarter day trip. We got kitted out with warm clothes with coats, hats and our ice talons in a bag round our waist, and got a bus up to the start of the glacier.

The glacier was absolutley huuuge! The views were amazing as it was surrounded by rainforest. Our guide (who was wearing shorts the crazy fool!) took up up into the glacier and was hacking our steps in the ice with a giant ice pick!

It was a great experience and we felt very proud of ourselves when we were stood looking over the views.
