Saz and Dave's travels
We were woken up early this morning by the guard wanting to put our beds away as we were both on the top bunks, even though our train didn't get in til 9am. When we arrived at Chiang Mai station we had to put on purple stickers so our tuk tuk driver could recognise us and we were then whisked away to our new accomodation. This guesthouse is very basic - no towels, loo roll or top sheets and no shower curtain so the whole bathroom gets wet when you want to have a shower! Also no air con so it is very hot as you can imagine!
After checking in we went off for a wander. We are staying in the old town which is a 2x2 km square area enclosed by a moat and the new town is outside the moat. There are loads of nice places to eat here and you can do a Thai cookery course which we're going to do next week.
For tea we ventured out to the night bazaar in the new town - miles and miles of stalls with clothes, bags, jewellrey, food it's incredible! Dave bought a cool kaftan and a vest with his favourite beer on the front - chang! On the way back to our room later we had to pass numerous bars with flocks of scantily clad thai women outside all shouting 'hello!' at dave who was oblivious as he was desparately trying to look at the tv's for the football score!!
