This morning after a magnificent sleep in we cooked up breakfast and ate it on our veranda as the morning slowly warmed up, what a life. We used this leisurely start to do some research of where we should stay for the rest of our journey along the French coast into Italy.
Once we finally got up and had showers, we headed into the town of Tarragona, finding a safe place to park in the local shopping centre on the far side of the city centre. The Rambla looked like a good place to begin our exploring and after snacking on some churros (spanish doughnuts) we were good to go. Tarragona is full of small streets that we weaved in and out of as well as lots of Roman and medieval historical sites, the Roman feel in the old part of town is evident everywhere including a small colosseum.
Finding ourselves slightly off course on the map we were assisted by a very helpful Spanish man and his girlfriend, she spoke English but he didn't. However he insisted on doing the talking and his excitement at showing us the best parts of "his town" was fantastic, through pointing, sound effects and drawing lines on the ground we were re-oriented and had a plan. We had thanked him and were on our way when he ran back over to tell us were to go for great tapas, the hospitality shown in Spain is leaving Paris far behind and it's ranking highly on our revisit list.
The rest of the day moved smoothly from here, tapas in the town square, beautiful old narrow streets to explore and the sun bathing us the whole time. WE ARE LOVING SPAIN!
A 10min drive later we were back in our bungalow putting our feet up after a long day of pounding the pavement, an early night was on the cards to get us ready for a tough day tomorrow.......lying on the beach.....
