This morning we were up, packs on, walking our dusty track back to the train station with the sun gleaming against another clear blue sky. We were off to the airport, not for a plane, but to pick up the car before heading south to Tarragona.
**We got a French car in Spain to drop off in Nice and picking up an Italian car there to drive into Milan. Essentially we're helping return those cars to there correct countries and in doing so we'll avoid the expensive one way tariffs when taking a hire car across borders and not returning it**
The rental company's computers thought we were picking the car up in Madrid, contrary to what our paperwork clearly stated, so at a scramble they found another French car for us and in the process we got a better one! We'd booked something small (a little Peugot) but ended up with a very nice Citroen C5 and once I'd become comfortable with the manual gear stick being in the wrong side of me we were off onto the highway.
An hour and a half later (thank-you in built satnav) we were checking into our bungalow for 3 nights of relaxation by the ocean. This was also a washing stop, making use of the parks washing machines we were able to get 2 loads done and finally be back to having all clean clothes. We'd done some sink washes but nothing really compares to a machine!
As there's only about 2 weeks left in the camping season before they all shut down for the winter, the on-site grocery shop was super cheap as they tried to clear as much stock as possible (a 6pack of beer for under $3 euro). Perfect, we filled the fridge with enough supplies to see out our breaky's and dinners before taking a walk along the beach as the sun was getting ready to set.
A meal and a few drinks later we were back sitting on the beach, listening to the waves come in and watching the stars while reliving the adventure so far....we're not even halfway yet...!
