I arrived on Koh Phi Phi on the 20th after a small boat ride from Krabi. The boat ride was alright, except for the rain, I was really hoping it would stay away for my time in Phi Phi or I was going to leave pretty quickly. I couldn't help but think that the port looked a little bit like a shanty town when I arrived at the pier. It was almost off-putting and the thought I had maybe made a mistake crept into my mind. Ho Hum. I walked through town and found somewhere to stay. Mr Local Dorms. Yet again my bed space wasn't ready and I was to discover I was sharing a room with at least 16 other people. The first night was pretty much a bust though I fell asleep really early only to be woken by a bunch of screaming Irish girls at midnight...the perils of a dorm room.
The following day (21st) I went on search for different accommodation when coming round a corner who do I bump into? Danielle and James! I didn't think they were coming to Phi Phi but was pleased to see them nevertheless. I had arranged to go to the Beach with a guy called Peter but he'd disappeared so James, D and I went walking instead. Tonsai Bay is not the best beach on Phi Phi and James kept making us laugh by asking where his 20thb to clean up Phi Phi was really going if the beach was so rotten! Fair point though *laugh*. After a while we went walking on a rather long hike to Long Beach which is the better of the beaches on Phi Phi. It was worth it but the rain started closing in so we went back.
Whilst it was raining to take shelter from the rain the 3 of us went for a fish spa. I think I had forgotten how weird it felt since I was drunk when I had the one in Siem Reap but my highlight was hearing the little squeals coming from James!
I hadn't had a really wild night in the company of James and D before and had been quite reserved but that was all to change later on in the evening after we took up an offer for buy 2 buckets get 1 free on the beach at Woodys bar. We watched the fire show and the fire skipping rope (which crossed my mind to try but I'd seen some of the burns before so quickly changed my mind!) before going and dancing away in Slinky bar. Cannot remember much else after that apart from waking up in my hostel. Damn those buckets! Tomorrow we're off on a snorkelling trip to Maya Bay (Known as 'The Beach' - thank you yet again Hollywood!)
The picture is of me and D sitting in the fish spa.
