Feeling a bit rough was not an option for today, for this afternoon James, D and I went on a snorkelling trip over to Maya Bay. The trip didn't start off too well what with 9 Irish girls complaining so much at the pier about the National Park costs that the boat almost never ran at all!
The first stop was Monkey beach which in my mind was a complete waste of time. There were a couple of monkeys on the sand and that was about it. Next we went and saw Viking Cave which I couldn't believe people actually live in but yet again it was a fly by visit. Snorkelling was alright (apart from my snorkel leaking so I couldn't breathe) there was an array of colourful fish and some eels floating around but yet again it was such a rushed trip.
Arrival at Maya Bay was a different experience. You had to swim from the long tail and navigate over some rocks before climbing through a small cavern to walk to the beach. Yet again I had another one of those moments where I thought I would be in awe but maybe it was the giant speed boat in the bay or the thousands of tourists everywhere which put me off...who knows! The Bay was beautiful though and I did get some amazing pictures with only me in the shots! I will now tell you how I managed this. I got bitten by something when I was in the water so I came out only for James, D and a couple of guys we met on the boat to soon follow rather swiftly. Anyone would have thought there was a shark in the water...oh no...not a shark...someone had taken a dump in the sea and it was floating right by where they were swimming! I laughed my head off and couldn't believe it at the same time. Mainly how lucky I was to have escaped the sea before they did! So if you want clear shots on Maya bay just tell everyone that there is poo in the sea and no one will be in the water behind you! *laugh*.
The journey back was eventful too, the boat ride was so choppy and water was just spilling in over the side. I laughed as Jim sat next to me was boasting he was dry and then I turned round and he was soaked! Martin sat behind me did one better, he sat there with a snorkel mask on his face and I wish I had taken a photo of it, it was so funny!
Tonight was going to be a quieter one, I bumped into Bob as we walked through town on our way to Reggae bar to watch the Thai Boxing. There were a couple of matches between Thai people and then came the chance for tourists to get in the ring with each other. The winner got a free bucket! Not really worth it if you got your teeth smashed out but ho hum most of them were drunk!
Here for another couple days now, there was an issue with the placement on Koh Lanta so won't be going there now, will have to find something else to do instead!
The picture is of me standing on 'The Beach' in Maya Bay.
