We made it to Bolivia!!
Well we crossed the border from Argentina to Bolivia and headed for a small town called Tupiza.
On route we stopped off at a local restaurant for lunch where we had a four course meal for 12bolivianos!! So about £1.20! However it was rather bizarre...carrot, lentils and potato for starters...then soup then mince and veg and then a really weird desert (can't even tell you what it was, looked a bit like wallpaper paste!!) Yum!!
Then it was onwards to Tupiza where we checked into a hostel for the next 2nights.For the rest of the afternoon we had a wander around the town centre, showered and met early evening for dinner.
Dinner was just as amazing as lunch...you should never eat a steak in Bolivia after you've eaten one in Argentina!! Put it this way I think I'm still chewing it!! Gross!! Maybe it was donkey.
Anyway the next morning we headed out for a triathlon day! Hiking/jeep safari, horse riding and mountain biking!
The jeep safari was cool and we saw some amazing views, went into the canyon and enjoyed a good lunch before making our way to the stables for horse riding.
Ok so horse riding...was different! The horses were mental! Nobody could control them! It was kind of cool at the same time though, very cowboy/cowgirl style!! My horse was ok thankfully and again we rode into the canyon and the views were stunning! However I was thankful to dismount at the end! Oh and the hats were very very sexy :-)
So after two hours riding mental horses I couldn't wait to get on the mountain bike at 3800m with brakes that didn't work! I love the health and safety in Bolivia...but hehe it was quite good fun and again wicked views!
We arrived back into town at dusk, had a much needed shower and we ate home made chilli at the hostel. We were all pretty knackered so some people watched Bolivia vs Argentina and the rest went to bed!
The next morning we took a bit of a road trip in the truck...now I'm not usually scared of heights but oh my god I thought I was going to die!! We headed up into the mountains in our truck and the drops at either side were huge!! I decided to hit the vodka and calm the nerves!! You don't need much at altitude!!
In the afternoon we headed further up the mountains to Uyuni via more very steep drops!! I think I'm used to it now!
