Our first night in Vancouver was eventful after dropping our bags and heading out to the MLS the walk back to the hotel was fun, we had purposely booked a budget hotel in the centre of Vancouver to save a bit of cash and to be near the bar area on Granville street. The walk home was crowded after the football but the area felt a bit seedy and a bit on the rough side. The Comfort inn hotel was above a rather loud & busy Irish pub which on a holiday would normally be a good location for us but not after travelling all day, the suite we had been upgraded to was on the top floor with a separate lounge area and was great for the price I was out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow (normal for me) Kurt however is the worlds worst sleeper and managed not a wink as the room was under the hotels air con unit on the roof of the building and actually felt like it was above the bed literally! After a restless night Kurt complained in the Morning and we were given the night stay free with complementary breakfast but no other rooms were available until possibly later in the day, we decided to move on before unpacking as I got a sense the area wasn’t what we wanted from this visit to the city. We rebooked a great hotel called The pinnacle on the waterfront and made our way over to that side of the city...
