Fremantle
We arrived in Fremantle late afternoon and treated ourselves to a very rare dinner out at a restaurant! Fremantle (Freo) has a big cafe culture and there are loads of restaurants too. It's a really nice town with a nice vibe about it and we spent our first day walking around and getting orientated.
We visited the famous Cottesloe Beach - which isn't recommended on a Sunday in school holidays! But it was very hot and the water was beautiful so we couldn't complain - although we were quite stupid and managed to go to the beach without our bikinis on so we had to make a quick stop at the surf shop before we hit the beach!! We also visited the fmous "Little Creatures" bewwery which has a bar there aswell so we sat in the beer garden and sampled some of their finest lager, in the beer garden overlooking the jetty! We also walked along the wharf and had fish and chips for diner - but they weren't a patch on English fish & chips.
We also thought that it would be appropriate to go to the cinema to see "Australia" as we have been to some of the places where they filmed some parts of it...it was cheesy and too long, but go and see it for yourself to make up your own mind on it! We also spent a day shopping in Perth; enjoying the big department stores and variety of shops which we know we won't get anywhere else on the West coast! We have received an email from Albany backpackers (where we stayed in Albany) saying that there is work available there for free rent for a while if we want it...we do and we accept whole-heartedly and book our bus tickets for the next day! Then we take in the tour of Fremantle's famous prison...which was better than I thought it would be and I actually quite enjoyed it!
So, it's back to Albany for us, to do some work and to spend Xmas and New Year...we're looking forward to going somewhere and staying for a few weeks!!
