Hello everybody! Thank you all for your messages!!
Day 2
Today i was introduced to a lday called Suja, she will be showing me around for the next week. She is very cleaver and runs programmes on social care aswell as meditation and yoga. She said she will teach me some yoga soon. A religious festival went past the house i am staying in, it was amazing! There were hundreds of people, and an elephant, it was dressed up in gold head gear. Apparently they are treated very well. On top of a few of the floats there were men suspended to logs by metal hooks going through their skin on their shoulder blades and the back of their thighs. It looked very painfull, i think it was for one of their gods.
Day 3
I went to the Cherumi centre for an orientation day. There are lots of things going on, but i spent the day between a nursery class and an embroidery class for the older girls. Communicating is quite difficult as they don't speak much english so i am trying to learn some Malayalam words. We went into the city centre to get me some clothes.
Day 4
Today was really nice! I wore my new clothes and everyone commented that i looked nice!! The nursery children are getting used to me and are constantly shouting 'Sala teacher, please come!'. Communicating today was a bit easier, and during the afternoon the older girls tried to teach me some Malayalam words but kept laughing at my poor accent!! I took a few photos today which i will try to put up soon.
Hope you are all well,
xxxx
P.S I can't believe it's snowing!! Babu keeps telling me that 'England has stopped', which doesn't surprise me!
